Oscar Fashion Favorites 2008

Oscar Fashion Favorites 2008
Oscar Fashion Favorites 2008I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday but I wanted to find out what you guys thought of the red carpet fashion at the 2008 Oscars. The red carpet in general was a little disappointing, where was everybody? Here are my top four picks. I think Jenifer Garner has the overall best look. Jennifer Garner. Shown: Jennifer Garner, in Oscar de la Renta, Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry, and a Roger Vivier clutch. Cameron Diaz, in Christian Dior, Bulgari jewelry, and a Roger Vivier clutch. Cate Blanchett, in Dries Van Noten with a Roger Vivier clutch. Amy Ryan, in Calvin Klein Collection and H. Stern jewelry.

Fashion Is Going To Be Totally Over The Top

Fashion Is Going To Be Totally Over The Top
Fashion Is Going To Be Totally Over The TopI can't wait for the Sex and the City movie due in theaters May 30th. I am sure the fashion is going to be totally over the top. All of our favorite characters will be starring including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon as well as Chris Noth, Jason Lewis, Evan Handler and David Eigenberg. Additionally, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) will be playing Carrie Bradshaw's assistant. Here are some sneak peeks of the fashion from the movie.

New Smart Fashion Utility Chic and Khaki

One trend and color that I always love to see come back in season is Utility Chic and Khaki.

I think we all have our favorite color that we would never wear, which often stems from childhood, which in my case is pink and then we have a color that we love, in fashion, clothing, fabric and in my case that is Khaki Green. I have even bought Khaki colored knickers in La Senza before, much to my husbands disgust (he believes underwear should be black, white and red, typical Man). In light of this, I was intrigued to watch a net-a-porter video, showing how the office staff worked the Utility trend, I love the way casual khaki trousers can be dressed up and given a smart edge with a classic white shirt or get dressed down with a grey t-shirt and how when I wore this look (back in the day) it was with Trainers and I am loving how these casual pants look so much more sophisticated with heels, whether they be gladiator inspired sandals or peep toe shoe boots.

New Smart Fashion Utility Chic and Khaki The thing that really saddens me is that, this time round, I really feel too old to wear my beloved Punk Royal Khaki's. I bought these, I think from Choice in Bluewater, probably about 7 or 8 years ago, I really can't remember, but if any of you do, let me know. I remember Kylie Minogue

wearing a pair in a magazine at the time.

I also have these. Definitely from Choice, I remember that they were £120 which was quite a lot at the time. They have "Easy Rider" written on the bum and have various designs on the legs, they come from the Maharishi era.

I would love to wear both of these trousers (although I doubt they still fit and am too scared to try them on) with heels this time round, I would choose my tan sandals from Hobbs.

The only problem is, I am feeling my age, and have decided that, what you can wear at 40 is a completely different ball game to what you feel comfortable in, at say, 47. I loved the "Spring Haul" post by fortynotout and totally adore every item she bought and the way she has put her outfits together but sadly I don't feel I could wear any of it. Not even the gorgeous Topshop wedges and you all know what a shoe freak I am. I don't believe it is a confidence thing but do believe it is a "Mutton" thing.

At my 40th Birthday Party, I actually had my midriff on display (it was flat then, I am now a couple of stone heavier) but even if I had the same figure now, would I be wearing that same outfit? The answer is most certainly "NO". I also wonder if a lot of how I feel is because of the age of my daughters. You can't really walk around in the same clothes as your 20, 18 or 17 year old offspring can you? and I know for a fact they would all wear fortynotout's great suede Topshop shoes! If I only had 9 year old little man, would I feel younger and more carefree about my outfit choices?

So if like me, you are looking to tap into this trend, then how about this fab lightweight Parka, £45 from Marks and Spencer

Or if funds permitting, for a bit of class, I would choose this Green Silk Trench Jacket, £300, by Twenty8Twelve at my-wardrobe.com

Or this cotton one by Tory Burch £315 from net-a-porter.

I may no longer be able to wear my old trousers as they look, sadly, destined for that ebay place in the sky, but am determined to rock a Utility jacket.

Will you be buying anything Khaki this season?
